This course covers the Valor NPI operations for incorporating Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis into your PCB design process. At the conclusion of this course the attendee will understand the navigation of the Valor NPI system, general tool usage, and analysis review.

 

Course Highlights

This course covers the Valor NPI operations for incorporating Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis into your PCB design process. At the conclusion of this course the attendee will understand the navigation of the Valor NPI system, general tool usage, and analysis review. Focus will be placed on a “Best Practices” process flow that will guide the user through the stages of generating ODB++ through analysis and resolution, and finishing with output and reporting.

Upon completion of this course, the user will have the full necessary knowledge to prepare a design for DFM verification, as well as adjust rules to impact results and sign off the design for manufacturing with virtual documentation and Product Summary information.

Detailed lab exercises will help reinforce what is discussed during the instructor led lecture.

 

You Will Learn

  • Generate ODB++ and understand ODB++ product model
  • Understand commonly used functionality of Valor NPI Engineering Toolkit
  • Use Valor NPI general operations and navigation
  • Process BOM using VPL
  • Define the best practice flow using the Design Process Wizard
  • Apply attributes to features and components using Design Preparation
  • Map CAD packages using Component Classification
  • Follow general Checklist Operations for creating an analysis Checklist
  • Learn to use Design centers and design center specific ERF’s
  • Validate hole sizes using Drill Tool Manager
  • Identify shorted or broken nets in the NetList Analyzer
  • Review DFM violations in the Manufacturing Risk Analysis (MRA) utility
  • Generate a violations report using the MRA Report Generation tool
  • Understand integration between Valor NPI and Xpedition
  • Create Assembly Panel and run Panel Analysis
  • Preparation of Virtual Documentation and Product Model Summary
  • Configuring and generating outputs
  • Topics like CAM compare, ODB++ viewer and integration with Allegro will also be covered in this training
