Better Plant Cooling System Design Through Optimized System Simulation

Overview

The design of industrial cooling systems often focuses on two factors, performance and cost. It is critical that the cooling system is able to physically handle the cooling needs for all of the heat generated to avoid any type of thermal runaway. It is also important that this is done in an economically feasible way both from the initial upfront cost, as well as the longer term operating cost.

In this web seminar we will look at how it is possible to design a cooling system meeting both of these needs using system simulation with Simcenter Flomaster and an optimization package, HEEDS. The goal will first be to properly size a pump and heat exchanger for the system followed by different optimization options to balance the performance with total cost.

What You Will Learn

  • How to size pumps using Simcenter Flomaster
  • How to size a heat exchanger using Simcenter Flomaster
  • How to optimize a system using HEEDS
