In the world of PCB design verification, the process of ensuring that a design is error-free and meets all requirements is crucial for successful product development. However, traditional methods of verification often involve hiring external experts or relying on overwhelmed in-house specialists, leading to delays and increased costs.
To overcome these challenges, we would like to introduce a new approach called progressive verification.
Progressive verification is a dynamic and strategic approach that allows design teams to efficiently manage their resources and reduce the risk of project delays. With progressive verification, tasks are divided into three categories: quick tasks, intermediate tasks, and complex tasks. Quick tasks involve automated rule-based verification, intermediate tasks focus on compliance analysis using generic technology-based models, while complex tasks require detailed project or vendor-specific models.
This progressive analysis approach allows quick and intermediate tasks to be handled by design teams, ensuring that only the complicated and specific issues arise to the attention of the SI experts. This strategy works like a sieve, with progressively finer filters working to identify and resolve the simplest issues as quickly as possible. This ensures the most efficient use of your expert’s time.
This eBook aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of progressive verification and its benefits in post-layout verification.

With the latest enhancements, Xpedition now includes initial creepage clearance validation directly inside the layout environment. This shift left approach allows designers to detect and resolve insulation distance concerns during placement, routing and optimization, instead of discovering them only after a full verification pass.
