An Introduction to Free Surface Simulation for Design and CAD Engineers

Overview

CAD-embedded simulation tools have made a significant contribution to the democratization of analysis by frontloading CFD. By moving CFD simulation early into the design process, these tools now enable design engineers to fully understand the behavior of their proposed designs including complex physical phenomena and to develop the best possible design.

One of the most recent developments is the implementation of free surface simulation. The Volume of Fluid (VoF) is a numerical technique for tracking and locating the free surface or fluid-fluid interface. Join us in this session where Mike Gruetzmacher introduces you to our implementation of the VoF. He’ll use a selection of validation and industrial application examples to illustrate the use of free surface simulation. We strongly recommend this presentation to CAD and design engineers who design products dealing with liquids.

What You Will Learn

  • An introduction to the VoF model
  • The difference between VoF and other models
  • Validation examples
  • Application examples
  • How to set up models for free surface simulations

Who Should Attend
